Second Word of the Cross:

✝️
Second Word of the Cross:

✝️ “Today you will be with Me in paradise.”

(Gospel of Luke 23:43)

📖 Detailed Church Explanation (English)

1. The Scene at the Cross

When Jesus Christ was crucified, two criminals were also crucified with Him—one on His right and one on His left (Luke 23:32–33).

One criminal mocked Jesus:

“If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” (Luke 23:39)

The other recognized his sin and Jesus’ innocence.

➡️ This shows two kinds of hearts:

✔️ A hardened heart

✔️ A repentant heart

2. The Repentant Thief’s Faith

The second thief said:

“We are punished justly…” (Luke 23:41) → He confessed his sin

“This Man has done nothing wrong.” → He acknowledged Jesus’ righteousness

“Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” (Luke 23:42) → He showed faith in Jesus as King

➡️ Even at the point of death, he believed in Christ.

📖 Reference: Book of Romans 10:9

“If you confess… and believe… you will be saved.”

3. “Today” – Immediate Salvation

Jesus replied, “Today…”

➡️ Salvation is immediate, not delayed.

The thief did not need rituals, works, or time

The moment he believed, he received salvation

📖 Reference: Second Corinthians 6:2

“Now is the day of salvation.”

4. “You will be with Me” – Personal Relationship

Jesus did not just promise heaven—He promised His presence.

➡️ The greatest gift of salvation is not a place, but being with Christ.

📖 Reference: Gospel of John 14:3

“I will come again… that where I am, there you may be also.”

5. “In Paradise” – Eternal Life

“Paradise” means a place of peace, joy, and the presence of God.

➡️ This confirms life after death for believers.

📖 Reference: Book of Revelation 2:7

“The tree of life… in the paradise of God.”

6. Salvation by Grace, Not Works

The thief had no time to:

Do good works

Be baptized

Live a righteous life

➡️ Yet he was saved.

📖 Reference: Book of Ephesians 2:8–9

“By grace you have been saved through faith…”

➡️ This clearly teaches:

✔️ Salvation is by grace

✔️ Received through faith

7. A Powerful Message for the Church

This word teaches:

No one is beyond God’s mercy

It is never too late to come to Christ

True repentance brings immediate salvation

➡️ But it also reminds us:

Do not delay repentance—this thief had one chance.

Gospel of John 14:3

Book of Revelation 2:7

Book of Ephesians 2:8–9

Sermon Conclusion |

First Word of the Cross:

✝️ First Word of the Cross: “Father, forgive them…”

(Gospel of Luke 23:34)

📖 Detailed Church Explanation

1. The Situation on the Cross

When Jesus Christ spoke these words, He was in extreme suffering—mocked, beaten, and nailed to the cross. Soldiers were dividing His garments, people were insulting Him, and leaders were rejecting Him (Luke 23:33–35).

➡️ In the middle of pain, Jesus did not speak words of anger—but words of forgiveness.

2. “Father” – A Relationship of Love

Jesus begins with “Father”, showing His deep relationship with God even in suffering.

This reflects trust and intimacy with God.

Even in pain, Jesus remains connected to His Father.

📖 Reference: Gospel of John 10:30 – “I and My Father are one.”

3. “Forgive them” – The Heart of the Gospel

Jesus asks God to forgive those who crucified Him.

Religious leaders

The crowd

They did not fully understand that they were crucifying the Son of God.

Sin blinds the human heart.

➡️ This shows that many sins are committed in ignorance—but still need forgiveness.

5. A Model of Perfect Forgiveness

Jesus teaches us how to forgive—even in the deepest pain.

“Love your enemies, bless those who curse you…”

➡️ Jesus not only taught forgiveness—He practiced it on the cross.

A Roman centurion later glorified God (Luke 23:47)

Many people repented after the crucifixion (Acts 2:36–38)

➡️ Jesus’ forgiveness opened the door for salvation—even for those who crucified Him.

7. Message for the Church Today

This word challenges every believer:

Forgive those who hurt you

Pray for your enemies

Show mercy like Christ

📖 Reference: Book of Ephesians 4:32

“Be kind… forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.”

What is **Good

✝️ What is **Good Friday? (English & Urdu)

📖  Explanation (with Bible references)

Good Friday is the day Christians remember the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It commemorates His death on the cross for the forgiveness of humanity’s sins.

According to the Bible:

Jesus was arrested after being betrayed (see Gospel of Matthew 26:47–56).

He was tried, beaten, and condemned to death (Gospel of John 18–19).

He was crucified at Golgotha, a place outside the city (Gospel of Mark 15:22).

His death is described as a sacrifice for sin (Book of Isaiah 53:5; Gospel of John 3:16).

Why is it called “Good” Friday?

Although it marks a sorrowful event, Christians call it “good” because they believe Jesus’ sacrifice brings redemption and salvation. His death fulfills Old Testament prophecies and opens the way for forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

Why is it called Good Friday?

📖  Explanation:

Although Jesus Christ was crucified on this day, it is called “Good” because of the powerful spiritual meaning behind His sacrifice.

1. ✝️ A Day of Salvation

Jesus gave His life for the forgiveness of human sins.

The Bible says:

“He was wounded for our transgressions…” (Book of Isaiah 53:5)

➡️ This means the door of salvation was opened for humanity — that is why it is “Good.”

2. ❤️ Expression of God’s Love

“For God so loved the world…” (Gospel of John 3:16)

➡️ The cross shows God’s greatest love for mankind, making this day “Good.”

3. 🌅 Beginning of Victory (Preparation for Resurrection)

Without the sacrifice of Jesus, the resurrection (Easter) would not be possible.

This day looks painful, but it actually begins victory and new life.

4. 📜 Fulfillment of Prophecy

Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled on this day (Isaiah 53).

➡️ It shows the completion of God’s divine plan.

✅ Summary:

Good Friday is called “Good” because:

✔️ It brings forgiveness of sins

✔️ It reveals God’s love

✔️ It opens the way to salvation and eternal life

(Book of Isaiah 53:5)

(Gospel of John 3:16)

✝️ THE LAST SUPPER & FOOT WASHING

✝️ THE LAST SUPPER & FOOT WASHING

📖 1. THE LAST SUPPER (آخری عشائیہ)

The Last Supper was the final meal that Jesus Christ shared with His disciples before His crucifixion. It took place during the time of the Passover, which commemorates God delivering Israel from Egypt.

At this meal, Jesus:

Broke bread and said: “This is My body”

Shared the cup and said: “This is My blood of the new covenant”

👉 (New Testament: Matthew 26, Luke 22)

This established the practice of Holy Communion.

🔮 2. OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES (پرانے عہدنامہ کی پیشگوئیاں)

The Last Supper is deeply connected with Old Testament prophecies:

Passover Lamb (Exodus 12)

👉 Exodus

The lamb’s blood saved Israel—this symbol points to Jesus as the Lamb of God.

Suffering Servant

👉 Isaiah 53

Foretells the sacrifice of the Messiah.

Betrayal Prophecy

👉 Psalm 41

“My close friend… has lifted his heel against me.”

🧼 3. WASHING OF THE DISCIPLES’ FEET

During the supper, Jesus did something extraordinary—He washed His disciples’ feet.

👉 (New Testament: John 13)

This act symbolized:

Humility

Servanthood

Love

Even though He was their Lord, He became a servant to teach them how to love one another.

4. NEW TESTAMENT EVENTS (نئے عہدنامہ کی تکمیل)

The Last Supper leads directly to:

Betrayal by Judas Iscariot

Prayer in Garden of Gethsemane

Crucifixion and resurrection

Mark 14, John 18

True leadership is through serving others

Love and humility are central to Christian life

The Palm Branches in Heaven

The Palm Branches in Heaven

(Revelation 7:9–10)

English Explanation

In the Book of Book of Revelation, the apostle John the Apostle saw a powerful vision of heaven.

Revelation 7:9–10 says:

“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’”

Meaning of the Vision

1. The Great Multitude

The great crowd represents believers from all nations who have been saved through Jesus Christ.

It shows that salvation is not limited to one nation but is for the whole world.

2. White Robes

The white robes symbolize purity and righteousness.

According to Revelation 7:14, these robes are washed in the blood of the Lamb (Jesus), meaning believers are cleansed from sin through Christ’s sacrifice.

3. Palm Branches

Palm branches represent victory, celebration, and honor.

In biblical culture, palm branches were used when welcoming a king or celebrating victory. This also reminds us of Palm Sunday, when people welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem waving palm branches (Matthew 21:8–9).

In Revelation, the palm branches symbolize the final victory of Christ and His people over sin, death, and evil.

4. Standing Before the Throne

The believers are standing before God's throne and before “the Lamb,” which refers to Jesus Christ, the Savior who sacrificed Himself for humanity.

5. The Loud Praise

The people shout:

“Salvation belongs to our God… and to the Lamb.”

This means salvation is entirely the work of God through Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Interpretation

The palm branches in heaven symbolize:

• The final victory of believers

• Eternal worship of God

• Celebration of salvation

• The triumph of Jesus Christ as King

It also shows that one day all believers will worship Christ together in heaven.

Israel-Iran war

1. Babylonian History of Israel

In the 6th century BC, the Babylonian Empire under King Nebuchadnezzar attacked the Kingdom of Judah. Jerusalem was captured and the Temple of Solomon was destroyed in 587 BC. Many Jews were taken captive to Babylon. This period is called the Babylonian Captivity.

The prophet Jeremiah had already prophesied that Israel would serve Babylon for 70 years. Later, the Persian king Cyrus the Great conquered Babylon and allowed the Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple.

2. Iran (Persia) in the Bible

Iran was known in the Bible as Persia or Elam.

Persia became a powerful empire after Babylon.

The Persian king Cyrus was even mentioned in prophecy in the Book of Isaiah as the ruler who would free the Jews from Babylonian captivity.

Persia later ruled a vast empire that included Israel.

3. Prophecies About War Involving Israel and Persia (Iran)

Several Bible passages mention Persia in future conflicts.

Ezekiel 38–39

This prophecy describes a future war where a coalition of nations attacks Israel. One of the nations listed is Persia (modern Iran).

Ezekiel 38:5

“Persia, Cush and Put will be with them, all with shields and helmets.”

The Preacher Pollard Blog

Many Bible scholars call this the Gog and Magog War.

Isaiah 22:6

Another prophecy mentions Elam (Iran) taking part in battle near Jerusalem.

These passages are often interpreted as referring to events in the last days.

Eternal God

Eternal God

4. Important Biblical Pattern

The Bible shows a historical pattern:

Israel conquered by Babylon

Persia defeats Babylon

Jews return to Jerusalem

Future prophecies speak of nations including Persia being involved in end-time conflicts.

Ancient False Gods Asherah Molech (Malik) The Valley of Hinnom دادي الينون Sacrificing Children?

In the history of Israel, many false gods and goddesses were worshiped by neighboring nations. At times, some Israelites also fell into idol worship instead of remaining faithful to the one true God of Israel. Below is an explanation in English and Urdu together:

Baal was a Canaanite storm and fertility god. People believed he controlled rain, thunder, lightning, and agricultural crops. Since Israel depended on rain for farming, many were tempted to worship Baal during droughts. The prophets of God strongly opposed Baal worship, especially Prophet Elijah on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18).

2. Asherah
Asherah was considered a mother goddess and was associated with fertility and motherhood. Wooden poles or sacred trees called “Asherah poles” were set up near altars. Some Israelites even placed these symbols near the Temple in Jerusalem, which angered God.
3. Molech (Malik
Molech (sometimes called Malik) was a god associated with the Ammonites. Worship of Molech included the terrible practice of child sacrifice. Children were offered in fire as a ritual act. The Bible strongly condemns this practice (Leviticus 18:21). God strictly commanded Israel not to follow this evil custom.
Why Did Israel Worship Them?
Israel was surrounded by pagan nations. Sometimes kings and people wanted to be like other nations. They forgot God’s covenant and turned to idols. This led to spiritual decline and eventually exile.
Spiritual Lesson

The history of Baal, Asherah, and Molech teaches us that idolatry leads people away from the true God. God desires faithful worship and obedience.
Important Spiritual Pattern
Most idol worship in Israel involved:
High places
Sacred poles
Sexual immorality
Child sacrifice
Political compromise
This disobedience eventually led to the Assyrian exile (722 BC) and Babylonian exile (586 BC).

You are referring to the place connected with child sacrifice and loud ritual music in ancient Israel — the Valley of Hinnom, also called Topheth.
Below is a clear explanation in English and Urdu together.
The Valley of Hinnom (Gehenna)
Valley of Hinnom
The Valley of Hinnom was located south of Jerusalem. In the Old Testament period, it became a place where some Israelites practiced child sacrifice to false gods, especially Molech.
Because of these terrible acts, the valley later became a symbol of judgment and destruction. In the New Testament, the Greek form of its name — Gehenna — is used as a picture of hell.
Topheth – The Place of Burning
Tophet

Topheth was a specific location inside the Valley of Hinnom where children were burned in fire as sacrifices.
Bible References:
2 Kings 23:10 – King Josiah destroyed Topheth so no one could sacrifice children to Molech.
Jeremiah 7:31 – “They have built the high places of Topheth… to burn their sons and daughters in the fire.”
Jeremiah 19:5–6 – God declared the valley would be called the Valley of Slaughter because of these sins.
Many scholars believe drums and loud instruments were beaten during these rituals to drown out the cries of the children. Some connect the word “Topheth” with a root meaning “drum,” though this is debated.

The Cult of Molech
Molech
Molech worship likely involved:
A bronze idol with outstretched arms
Fire beneath or inside the statue
Placing a child into the burning hands
Ritual music and chanting
The Bible strongly condemns this practice:
Leviticus 18:21
Leviticus 20:2–5
Jeremiah 32:35
God said this practice was something “which I did not command, nor did it enter My mind” (Jeremiah 7:31).

Later Meaning – From Valley to Symbol of Hell

Because the Valley of Hinnom became associated with fire and judgment, it later symbolized eternal punishment. By the time of Jesus, Gehenna was used as a word for hell — a place of final judgment.

Spiritual Reflection

The Valley of Hinnom represents the tragic result of turning away from the true God. It shows how spiritual compromise can lead to moral darkness.
